Celebrating 20 years, the Comunale Cancer Foundation continues to expand its support across Summit, Medina, Portage and Stark counties. Founded in memory of Stephen A. Comunale Jr., the Foundation provides grants for rent, utilities, groceries and transportation.The organization offers programs such as wig salons, art therapy, holiday meals, school supply backpacks and a food pantry in partnership with Stewart’s Caring Place.
In 2023, the foundation awarded $295,000 in assistance, growing to $300,000 in 2024, and has already distributed $160,000 in the first half of 2025. It expects to surpass $5 million in community impact this year. Its biennial fundraiser, The Event, will take place Sept. 27 at Goodyear Hall, featuring Kool & the Gang.
