Foundation Program
Stephen's Fun Day
Stephen's Fun Day is hosted by The Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center (BTRC) and supported by the Foundation in partnership with Carly’s Club and Guiding for Hope. Area children affected by and dealing with cancer spend an afternoon participating in therapeutic horse related activities in celebration of their survivorship.
Honoring Stephen's passion for horses and bringing people together
Long before the Comunale Cancer Foundation existed, there was a boy, a pony named Millie, and a riding center in Buffalo, NY that would shape the rest of his life.
Stephen came to the Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center as a timid young rider. Under the guidance of his instructor Jennifer Alfano, his confidence blossomed and his talent soared, eventually riding top horses at the most prestigious horse shows across the country. He was adored at BTRC by riders and staff alike, known for his warmth, his humor, and his willingness to give everything he had to whatever was in front of him.
Stephen's Fun Day was created to honor exactly that, his passion for horses, his determination and his extraordinary ability to bring people together. It is a joyful, spirited event that keeps Stephen's memory alive while supporting the Foundation's mission to help families facing cancer.
Come ride. Come celebrate. Come be part of something Stephen would have loved.
